About Array of Things

The Array of Things (AoT) is a privacy-conscious effort among many collaborators to collect real-time data on urban environment, infrastructure, and activity for research and public use based in Chicago.

AoT is an example of a Smart Enough City, one that respects the privacy and values of its citizens while providing them with invaluable information about their community. The concept of AoT is analogous to a “fitness tracker” for the city, measuring factors that impact livability in the urban environment, such as climate, air quality, and noise.

AoT uses an open intelligent sensing and edge computing platform called Waggle, an open platform for edge computing and intelligent, wireless sensors developed at Argonne National Laboratory.
