Brainscape offers a cutting edge study system based on current research in cognition and learning sciences. It uses a spaced-repetition algorithm to maximize the effectiveness of study sessions and meta-cognitive techniques to help learners grasp their progress and control their learning. This approach offers superior performance in long-term retention over traditional instructional models.

For the past year, I have served as the lead architect and software developer. In this capacity, I have overseen and been a key contributor to the team programming the web-based core software as well as the lead programmer for an Android based mobile version and the technical project manager of the iPhone version. Specific contributions include code for an AJAX-based rich web interface, a JSON/REST web services API to support mobile clients, and a datamining schema to explore trends in study habits and learning as users interact with the system.
